The Center for Hope and Healing provides trauma and resilience-informed support and safe spaces for survivors to heal through its free and confidential counseling, legal and medical advocacy, and 24-hour crisis hotline. All of their services are free and confidential, regardless of insurance, income, citizenship, or any other barriers.

The Kristy Williams Memorial Foundation

The Kristy Williams Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps individuals with cancer by providing financial support. It was created in memory of Kristy Williams, who battled brain cancer for 12 years with unwavering hope and positivity. Kristy was a registered nurse who used her profession to inspire patients and spread kindness. The foundation aims to continue Kristy’s mission of helping others in their time of need by relieving the financial strain of those fighting brain tumors and other forms of cancer.

Saint Michael School is a Lowell-based Catholic School whose mission is to provide a strong academic foundation for preschool through eighth-grade students. They serve over 250 students and teach them to become life-long learners through teamwork, mutual respect, and responsibility. Saint Michael School wants its children to be well-rounded, so along with a traditional academic curriculum, they also offer a variety of art, music, and computer classes.

MicroSociety Academy Charter School is a New Hampshire-based, kindergarten through 8th grade Chartered Public School. They first opened their doors in 2015 and supported 100 students. Since then, they have grown to serve over 250 students. Their mission is to create a learning environment to empower students to acquire the heart, knowledge, and skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Westford Chorus

Westford Chorus has exceeded the bounds of a community chorus by performing difficult and diverse music including Classical, Jazz, and pieces from Broadway. The Westford Chorus also focuses their attention on helping their community. They bring music to residents in local assisted livings and nursing homes and participate in community singing events.

L’Arche Boston North

L’Arche Boston North (LBN) homes is a local non-profit offering a welcoming place for people with intellectual disabilities. LBN is a community where people with disabilities, and those who assist them, live together and create a compassionate environment. In this community, the members can live independently or in a household with others. They provide daily programs, arts and crafts, and part-time jobs to the residences. These members learn valuable lessons about patience, faith, and love.

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, Inc

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore assists a diverse group of your neighbors—next door or down your street—including older adults, caregivers, their families, and people of all ages with disabilities. We help them live safely and comfortably where they want to be: in their own homes, through services such as home care, Meals on Wheels, and transportation to critical medical appointments.

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center

The Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) has provided comprehensive primary health care services to underserved residents of the Merrimack Valley since 1980. The GLFHC is focused on improving the health of people and their families in the Merrimack Valley area. Located in Lawrence, Massachusetts, GLFHC has eight clinical locations providing care to more than 62,000 patients a year. Their mission is to improve and maintain the health of individuals and families in the Merrimack Valley by providing a network of high quality, comprehensive health care services and by training health care professionals to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.

Friends of the Nevins Library

The Friends of the Nevins Library is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization created to support the library programs and activities at the Nevins Memorial Library. While many activities and collections are funded through the City and State budgets, there are other programs that are not in the Library’s regular budget that the Friends are able to provide through membership and fundraising.

Gateways Community Services

Gateways Community Services is a private non-profit corporation created in 1981 to establish and maintain programs and services which promote growth and independence for individuals with developmental disabilities. Gateways delivers services for over 3,400 individuals with disabilities, families coping with autism, and seniors in need of care. Kids in Disability Sports, Inc.

Kids in Disability Sports, Inc. (“K.I.D.S.”) has been enriching the lives of individuals with special needs in the Merrimack Valley for the last 21 years. K.I.D.S. provides 14 different sports programs throughout the year as well as social/recreational opportunities which include monthly dances, outings, professional/college sports events and an annual sports banquet. K.I.D.S. programs provide individuals with special needs the opportunity to get involved, learn new skills and develop long-term, meaningful relationships. These programs promote healthier lifestyles and encourage people to compete to the best of their individual abilities.

Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter

The Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that opened its doors in 1981. The organization provide meals, emergency shelter, transitional housing, food boxes, both perishable and non-perishable items in its food pantry, as well as advocacy to poor and homeless men, women and families with children. The soup kitchen serves dinner seven days a week and breakfast five days a week. The Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter believes no one should be hungry or homeless in the community.

The Mat Boule Fund

On April 2nd, 2003, Dracut resident Mathew G. Boule sacrificed his life for our country when he became Massachusetts’ first casualty of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mat’s family and friends have spent the last 13 years trying to find a way to honor him. Together, with the town of Dracut, the fund is working to build a memorial park to honor him and all others who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The MGB Park Fund, a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit, is made up entirely of volunteers, so every dollar donated will go straight to the building of the park.

The Megan House Foundation

The Megan House Foundation is dedicated to helping provide and facilitate substance abuse treatment services for people struggling with substance abuse in the Merrimack Valley and surrounding areas. The first residential treatment center, Megan’s House, opened its doors in October 2015. Through an “evidence based” treatment program, the House and Foundation’s goal is to help people break free from the shackles of addiction and live a healthy and independent life.

Zack’s Team Foundation

This non-profit organization believes that recovery is possible. They consider it their duty to bring attention to the common misconceptions of substance abuse. It is their mission to provide knowledge, hope, and funds to help those families and persons impacted by the wide-spread epidemic and disease. One hundred percent of Zack’s Team Foundation’s net proceeds go toward its scholarship fund to help pay for treatment for patients.

Power of Flowers

Established in 2009, Power of Flowers is dedicated to enriching the lives of others by harnessing the power of flowers to lift spirits and promote healing. Recipients are people who are lonely, isolated, ill, or simply going through a rough patch. Flowers are renewed and refreshed after being recycled from weddings, banquets, business conferences, memorial services, etc.—any event where flowers are often left behind or tossed in the trash while they are still fresh. The North Billerica-based organization also receives donations from flower wholesalers.

My Father’s House

This Chelmsford-based nonprofit provides a residential parenting program for homeless pregnant and parenting young women between the ages of 13 and 21 and their children. It is operated by Life Saver Ministries, a non-denominational, faith-based organization. It welcomes young women regardless of their religious beliefs. Its first priority is to provide clients with a safe, healthy, and stable living environment. Its second priority is to equip its clients with the tools they need to care for themselves and their children, to become self-sufficient, and to not become homeless again.

A Child’s Light, Inc.

The mission of this Dracut-based nonprofit is to prevent all forms of abuse and neglect of children, whether physical, sexual, educational, or emotional. It informs the public that the prevention of abuse and neglect decreases lifelong adverse medical and emotional consequences for children and promotes their well-being. It also reduces the costs of human services, delinquency, and criminal justice services.

The Food Pantry of Pelham at St. Patrick’s Parish

The Food Pantry of Pelham at St. Patrick’s Parish is a nonprofit charitable organization comprised of a network of partners who are committed to ending food insecurity for those who live, worship, and work in the Pelham community. It provides basic, nonperishable food items, bread, meat and dairy products on a weekly basis. Personal care items, household supplies, and special items are available on a rotating basis according to inventory.

Kids In Disability Sports

Kids in Disability Sports, Inc., serving Greater Lowell, believe that individuals with special needs deserve the same opportunities for recreation, sports, and skill-building as everyone else. The KIDS-sponsored sports programs build self-confidence and show the value of teamwork. The social events reinforce self-esteem and cooperation. KIDS’ programs include a mix of typical and special needs individuals with disabilities. Participants build lasting relationships in a safe, family-friendly environment.

Operation Delta Dog

This nonprofit organization was founded in 2013 to train shelter dogs to become service animals for veterans suffering from the challenges of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury that have left them debilitated, sleepless, and unable to cope. It is estimated by the Veterans Administration that about 20 percent of Massachusetts’ 400,000 veterans suffer with PTSD and TBI. Assistance animals help to reduce stress, treat depression, and manage the panic attacks associated with PTSD and TBI. It costs about $10,000 to train each animal and there is no cost to veterans.

Lowell Humane Society

The Lowell Humane Society was founded in 1873 with the mission of preventing cruelty to animals. It works to provide care for homeless and distressed animals, and educate the public about responsible pet ownership. It is one of the oldest humane organizations in the state of Massachusetts. Through humane education, the Society strives to enlighten the public with the goal of improving the quality of life for animals and people.

RARA (Recreational Adult Resource Association)

Its main mission is to promote public awareness and understanding of the needs and issues specific to the developmentally delayed and their families. RARA, which is based in Lowell, is a resource of services providing accessibility to social, recreation, education, and pre-vocational opportunities to clients and respite for their families.

Lucy’s Love Bus

They seek to ease the suffering of pediatric cancer patients throughout Greater Lowell by providing free integrative therapies such as massage, acupuncture, art, music therapies, and therapeutic horseback riding. Integrative therapies ease children’s pain and anxiety during and after traditional medical treatments.

The Renaissance Club is a program of Eliot Community Human Services that provides a supportive community for individuals recovering from mental illnesses residing in Greater Lowell. It is a safe place where members can form lasting relationships with others and become more vocationally and socially active in the clubhouse and the world.

Lowell Day Nursery is a nonprofit, early-education childcare center in Lowell that opened in 1885.  It began as a place for mill workers’ children to be cared for while their parents worked, and continues its mission of serving the needs of area parents.

Brigid’s Crossing of Lowell primarily serves young mothers between the ages of 16 and 21 who come from various cultural backgrounds. Brigid’s Crossing operates a shelter in Lowell that houses up to eight young mothers and their children.

Angkor Dance Troupe of Lowell, develops and teaches Cambodian dance, promotes an understanding and appreciation of Cambodian culture, and provides a positive social and educational outlet for youths.

Kitty Angels in Tyngsboro is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats, treating them for injuries or other health problems, and placing them into life-long, loving homes with compatible owners. Kitty Angels, a no-kill shelter, is operated entirely by volunteers.

Table of Plenty in Chelmsford is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing community with those in need.
